Happy Monday morning! I hope everyone had as great of a weekend as I did. My boyfriend, Joe, came to NYC to visit since he is currently on a rotation in Pennsylvania for the next month.
On Saturday we started the day off by going to the Egg Shop. This cute tiny restaurant on Elizabeth St in Little Italy has the best breakfast sandwiches. I created my own sandwich which was an over easy egg, avocado mash, and Vermont cheddar on a buttermilk biscuit and Joe got their Eggshop B.E.C. which was fried eggs, Vermont cheddar, bacon, tomato jam, and pickled jalapeno on a panini roll. We also split their kale salad which was delicious, but I have to say their breakfast sandwiches clearly outshines the kale salad.
We spent the rest of the day walking around enjoying the nice hot weather until it was time to head to Citi Field for the Mets vs Phillies game. It was a hot and sunny afternoon when the game started, but unfortunately rain started pouring on us at the top of the 8th inning causing the game to be delayed. Since it didn’t look like the rain was going to let up, it was towards the end of the game, and I already got the baseball game hot dog that I went there for, we decided to start heading back to my apartment. Turns out we didn’t miss much because the score remained the same as it was when we left, meaning the Mets won (Joe wasn’t too happy since he is a Phillies fan)!
On Sunday, Joe and I got up early again to pick up some bagels and headed to Central Park for a little breakfast picnic. Since it was a gorgeous sunny day, we decided to rent a row boat for an hour. Joe decided to take the lead on rowing our boat around the lake. It was a bit of a struggle at first, but by the end of the hour he was a pro!
We ended our day in Central Park by going to the Central Park Zoo for about an hour. We have been to this zoo before and it is quite small so it didn’t take much time to walk through the entire zoo.
Being that it was so hot out we picked up some froyo to help us cool off before Joe had to head back to Pennsylvania. Even though Joe had to leave since he had work today, I luckily have a long weekend for the 4th of July and don’t have to go back into work until Wednesday!
What’s everyone’s plans for the 4th?
Sincerely,
K
