There is one common trend you will find with New Yorkers and the summer. Can you guess it? Everyone is itching to be out of the concrete jungle and away at some beach baking in the sun. Well most people would prefer beach days to working days in the summer, but you will always find that NYC is dead on the weekends. We can’t seem to get away fast enough and for me I spent the past week home in Wilmington, North Carolina for some much needed vacation time. A week filled with sun, sleeping, shopping and free food was exactly what I needed for a mental health refresher.
Even though I went home with the intention of vegging out and getting a tan, I also found it impossible to sleep in past 8 am! Sadly, I’m so used to getting up early for work 5 days a week, it’s so hard to sleep in. Ugh adulting!
I spent most of my week enjoying the beautiful Wrightsville beach (just a 10-minute car ride away), riding my bike around the beautiful community my parents live in, kayaking on the intercostal, eating out (a lot), and doing some serious damage to my wallet at all the local stores. I’ll be sharing a recap of some of my favorite items later this week so stay tuned!
Even though a week came and went way too fast, it was really nice spending some time with my parents and my adorable dog, Broedie. Although I wish I was still waking up in North Carolina and cuddling with Broedie, I will admit it’s nice being back in my apartment, sleeping in my comfy bed, and getting back in the routine of things. Now I’m ready to tackle whatever this week brings my way and start planning my next trip home!
Sincerely,
K
