Let’s talk about hair! I’m always getting comments and questions about how I take care of my thick long hair. Not going to lie, it is A LOT of upkeep, but thankfully I’ve had years of practice. Today’s blog post is focusing on the products I’ve been using in my latest hair care routine. I’ll share a blog post about how I style my hair another time.
I used to always switch up my hair routine with new products whenever I ran out of something. Usually because I didn’t like how a product made my hair feel. I once had a past hair dresser tell me hair can become immune to a product if used over and over (although not sure how true this is).
This past November I decided to mix things up. I’m solely using one brand when it comes to my hair care routine: Aveda. I’ve always loved Aveda products. Ever since I can remember I would get my hair done at Aveda salons (and I still do to this day). That’s where my mom went so I would go there. Their products smell very good and they are organic, but they are on the more expensive side.
My Current Routine:
I typically wash my hair 2-3 times a week (I try to keep it to 2 times). This varies depending on the work outs I do each week, if it’s summer vs winter, etc. I know over washing can strip your hair of natural oils, dry your scalp out, and it’s also a major process to dry and style my hair. So, the less I wash my hair the better.
Since November I’ve been washing my hair with the Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. After showering and letting my wet hair sit in a towel for 20-30 minutes, I put Aveda Smooth Infusion Styling Crème in. This helps protect my hair when I blow dry it. Lastly, depending on how I choose to finish styling my hair, I used the Aveda Shampure Thermal Dry Conditioner and Aveda Control Light Hold Hairspray.
1. Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner
2. Smooth Infusion Styling Creme
3. Shampure Thermal Dry Conditioner
4. Air Control Light Hold Hair Spray
Since switching my whole hair care routine to Aveda products, I’ve been loving how my hair smells and feels. If you have never tried Aveda, but are interested in the brand, Aveda salons and stores usually have a big travel size product section. This would be a great place to start if you aren’t sure which line of Aveda products is right for you.
What’s your favorite hair product?
Sincerely,
K
