With all this additional free time we have been given due to quarantine, it’s the perfect time to pick up reading. As I mentioned in my Quarantine Activities to Keep You Busy post, I wanted to share a few of my favorite books. Today is the first post in my “Book Review” series. I’ll probably try to do a new “Book Review” post every 2-3 months. Since I am a sucker for a good thriller, it made sense to start off this series with 5 page-turning thrillers.
5 Favorite Page-Turning Thrillers
The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
I am pretty sure I did not put this book down for 3 days. Meet Amber Patterson, a plain Jane who is fed up being a nobody and believes she deserves a life of money and power. A life just like the blond-haired, blue-eyed Daphne Parrish takes for granted. Daphne, a socialite and philanthropist, lives what looks like a fairy tale life in Bishops Harbor with her husband, Jackson, and their 2 daughters. Amber devises a plan and before you know it she becomes Daphne’s closest confidante. With shocking turns and dark secrets, you will quickly become addicted as the true story behind the Parrish’s life unfolds. Remember, not everything looks as it seems.
Kiss the Girls by James Patterson
The second installment in James Patterson’s Alex Cross series (but you don’t have to read the books in order to follow along). Two clever pattern killers are collaborating, cooperating, and competing with each other as they are working coast-to-coast. You have “Casanova” operating on the East Coast and “The Gentleman Caller” operating on the West Coast. Alex Cross was not supposed to be involved in solving this case, but once his niece went missing, he had no choice but to track down these 2 killers.
The Good Girl by Mary Kubica
I can guarantee there is no way you will be able to predict the ending of this psychological thriller. Meet Mia Dennett. One night she planned to meet up with her boyfriend at a bar, but when he didn’t show, she went home with a stranger, Colin. This decision will turn out to be the worst mistake of her life. Instead of bringing Mia to his place like Mia expects, Colin kidnaps Mia and locks her away in a secluded cabin in the middle of nowhere in Minnesota. Mia’s mom and Detective Gabe Hoffman set out on a hunt to find Mia, but no one would be able to predict the emotional entanglements that eventually cause the family’s world to shatter.
The Husband’s Secret by Lane Moriarty
Imagine your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. This letter contains all of his deepest, darkest secrets. Secrets that have the potential to destroy the life you built for you and your family. Well Cecilia Fitzpatrick stumbled upon this letter that her husband wrote while he is still very much alive. Read long as Lane Moriarty takes you on this suspenseful page-turning journey as Cecilia’s life gets turned upside down.
The First Wife by Erica Spindler
Bailey Brown was swept off her feet by a stranger, Logan Abbot. Despite their ten-year age difference, she fell head over heels in love with him. But shortly after they married, she begins to realizes she barely knows him. Logan moves Bailey to a family horse farm in Louisiana where a tragic family history unfolds. Bailey soon discovers Logan’s first wife disappeared under mysterious circumstances along with rumors about women from the area who also went missing. This is another book that will be impossible to put down as you’re taken along on this tightly wound thriller.
If you don’t want to wait to see more of my recommendations, check out my goodreads account. All the books I’ve read since I graduated college are on my account with my ratings (on a scale of 1-5 stars). Fair warning: majority of the books you will see are thrillers and murder mysteries. What can I say. I love a book that can keep me on the edge of my seat!
What are some of your favorite thrillers? Share below!
Sincerely,
